SALIENT PARTICULARS OF ERODE DISTRICT

The district of Erode was named after the great atheist South India leader and Founder of 'Dravida Kazhagam' Late Thiru E V Ramasamy Naicker. He is also known as 'Thandai Periyar'. The total area of the District is 8209 sq.km and it has a population 23,22,851 as per 1991 census. The density population is 283 persons per sq.km. The Headquarters of Districts is Erode Town.

Location Erode District is situated between Trichy&Salem Districts in the East, Combatore & Nilgiris in the West, Karnataka State in the North and Madurai distric in the South.
